On the importance of "heart"…

In this third episode, Caroline Meesemaecker talks with Vitalie Taittinger, President and CEO of Champagne Taittinger, about the weight of family heritage and the place of the "heart" in strategic decisions.

Family is very important at Taittinger. What does it evoke for you?

"It means projecting yourself over the long term and making decisions from the heart - because you also inherit a history, and that history inevitably leads you to a very specific place."

Taittinger in three words?

"I'd say Family, Chardonnay, and Life."

What's your vision for Taittinger today, and your ambitions?

"The vision for the House today is that it has everything: a heritage, through how it was built, and at the same time it's very contemporary. It can take a stand on subjects like climate. With 288 hectares, we're right at the heart of that environmental question, and we truly believe everything must now be built with nature, looking far into the future.

It's also a House deeply tied to culture and to art, and that's what keeps it alive and fully of its time - while having a past that makes it beautiful, strong, and legitimate. I'm here to keep pushing the wines forward, so that they are the House's most important promise, and so that every day we're there to serve them first."
