An exclusive meeting with Francesco Visani, the wine man of Marchesi Antinori!
Since 2006, he has been the link between the prestigious Place de Bordeaux and importers around the world. Set between Siena and Florence, the Tenuta Tignanello estate is a jewel of Tuscany. In this sixth episode, Caroline Meesemaecker takes you behind the scenes of Solaia, Tignanello, and Marchesi Antinori Chianti Classico.
Can you tell us about your role at Solaia?
"I've worked at Antinori for almost 18 years, and for the last 15 I've been the sales manager for Solaia."
If you had to sum up Solaia in three words?
"Grace, elegance, finesse."
Why did Solaia come onto the Place de Bordeaux 14 years ago?
"We started working with the Place in 2010, if I'm not mistaken, and the reason was simple. At the time, we were very well distributed in most countries, but not strong enough in the Asian market.
We knew the Place de Bordeaux was well positioned in those markets, so we approached it to help grow the brand's reputation - especially in Asia, and in mainland China, which was our big concern almost 15 years ago. That's the main reason we began our collaboration with the Place de Bordeaux."
